Besigye, Mbabazi Meet In London, Strike A Deal

Former Prime Minister John Patrick Amama Mbabazi and Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) flag bearer Dr Kizza Besigye have held a two day meeting in London to iron out differences ahead of the polls.

According to a press statement released by The Democratic Alliance (TDA) signed by the two presidential aspirants, the meeting was held under auspices of the Kofi Annan Foundation.

“Under the auspices of the Kofi Annan Foundation, we have held a two-day meeting in London, UK to continue the discussions previously held in Nairobi, Kenya…We have made substantial progress in preparations for the 2016 general elections in Uganda,” the statement read in part.

Adding; “We will subsequently report to our respective political structures so as to complete the arrangements guaranteeing our success in the presidential elections.”

Divergences emerged between the two aspirants over who should be The Democratic Alliance flag bearer in September when the alliance failed to strike a consensus with DP, Go-Forward Pro-Change, PPP, UFA, and UPC endorsing  the candidature of former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi while CP and FDC endorsing  the candidature of Col (Rtd) Dr. Kizza Besigye.
