Besigye to Report to Court Today
By Serestino Tusingwire
Opposition stronghold Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye is today expected to report to the High Court’s criminal division as one of the bail conditions for treason offences against him.
Besigye is to report before Court’s registrar in charge of High Court criminal division.
He was first ordered to report twice a month before the Court’s registrar but this was later revised by the deputy registrar Mary Khainza in November 2016. He was then ordered to appear once a month to reduce financial expenses.
However, Besigye is so much disappointed with the way court is handling his case.
The Directorate of Public Prosecution contends that it’s still carrying out the investigations surrounding the saga in which Besigye sworn in himself as a president and even formed the cabinet yet he had not won an election.
Besigye vowed to stop reporting to court if the state does not finish the investigations and allow the trial to start.
