Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) icon Dr. Kizza Besigye says a dangerous device has been found in his car immediately after release from Wandegeya police station.
Besigye says the dangerous device was found after thorough inspection.
“My vehicle was released from Wandegeya Police Station after 3 weeks! Thorough inspection discovered this (picture shared) dangerous device!” Besigye tweeted yesterday.
The car was towed to Wandegeya police station towards the end of presidential election campaigns when Besigye and his supporters insisted on campaigning in the city centre, a move that police rejected resulting into confrontations.
Besigye, a four time presidential candidate has been incarcerated at his Kasanagati home for a month.
Since the 18th February presidential elections, he has not been allowed to leave his home.
Government says Besigye will not be freed any time soon unless he denounces his defiance statements and incitement of violence.
US government and European Union parliament have asked Uganda to free Besigye.
