Government to Clear Abel Dhaira’s Body Return Expenses

President Museveni has said that government will clear expenses to return home the body of fallen Uganda Cranes goalkeeper Abel Dhaira.


“President Yoweri Museveni has said government will meet the expenses of the return of the body of late Cranes goal keeper Dhaira,” Lindah Nabusayi, president’s press secretary reported on Monday afternoon.

The 28yr old shot stopper succumbed to abdominal cancer on Sunday in Iceland where he was playing for IBV Vestmannaeyjar.

His family has been looking for $15,000 (Ugx. 55m) to bring the body back for burial for burial.

Kawowo sports, a local soccer website however reported that The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) under its emergency committee will take charge of arrangements to fly deceased Abel Dhaira’s body to Uganda as well as handle the burial arrangements.

“The Emergency Committee of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has taken charge of preparations for the return of the remains and burial arrangements of former Uganda Cranes goalkeeper, Abel Dhaira,” the website quoted a statement issued by the soccer governing body.
