M7 Reshuffles Judicial Service Commission

Uganda President Yoweri Museveni has appointed Justice Benjamin Kabito Isingoma as the head of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), replacing Justice James Ogoola who recently turned 70.
Kabito who has been Fort Portal’s High Court judge will be deputized by the Supreme Court judge Faith Mwondha.
The JSC as established under Article 146 of the Constitution is composed of 9 members to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of Justice Administration in Uganda.
The Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, and the Members are all appointed by the President and approved by Parliament, and they must be persons of integrity and unquestionable character
A full time Chairperson and Deputy must be qualified to be Supreme Court judges.
Other members on the Commission are; former Uganda Law Society boss, Ruth Sebatindira, women rights activist, Norah Matovu Winyi, Hon. Rose Nyakikongoro, Hon Amongin Aporu, Justine Mugabi and Laban Nnini Kirya.
The appointments committee of the parliament has already scheduled Wednesday next week as the day for vetting these nominees.
