Kanyeihamba Supports move to take Kayihura to ICC

Former Supreme Court judge Prof. George Kanyeihamba has said he doesn’t disagree with anyone who says Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura should be taken to International Criminal Court (ICC).

“I don’t disagree with those saying IGP Kayihura should be taken to International Criminal Court (ICC) given the actions of the police,” Kanyeihamba said on NBS TV today morning.

Kanyeihamba argued that police is currently ‘”raping” Kizza Besigye by blocking him from leaving his Kasangati home.

Prof. Kanyeihamba faulted Electoral Commission for declaring the winner of the presidential elections based on provisional results.

He argued that “It is unconstitutional.”

“Every one disputes the election outcome; even Kaguta Museveni complains he was cheated and had above 60%,” Kanyeihamba noted.

On petitioning Supreme Court, Prof. Kanyeihamba said; “it is unfortunate that Besigye has been prohibited from gathering evidence to challenge the election.”

But he lauded former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi who contested as an independent presidential candidate and score 1.3 percent for petitioning the court.

“I am happy that a losing candidate has petitioned so that there can be a judicial audit of the ghastly events of last month,” he noted.

Mbabazi filed the petition yesterday evening on through his lawyers.

Mr Severino Twinobusingye, one of the two lawyers who petitioned the court on behalf of Mr. Mbabazi, said that their chief complaint is where the Electoral Commission failed to follow the provisions of the law.

“Our biggest complaint against the Electoral Commission is that there was no tally centre.”
