President Yoweri Museveni has knifed Gen. Kale Kayihura as Inspector General of Police, with immediate effect.

Kayihura has been replaced by Okoth Ochola who has been his deputy.

In the same vein, Museveni also dropped Gen Henry Tumukunde as Minister for security replacing him with Gen. Elly Tumwine.

A statement dated March 4, reads: “In the Exercise of the powers vested in the President by Articles 113 (1) and 213 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, I hereby appoint General Elly Tumwiine as Minister for Security, Mr Okoth Ochola as the Inspector General of Police…

Meanwhile, Brigadier Sabiiti Muzeei, hitherto chief of Military Police has been appointed the Deputy Inspector General of Police. The new IGP Ochola is scheduled to retire from the Police force next year.
