M7 Urges Youth To Tap Into ICT For Jobs

President Museveni has urged youth to tap into Information Communications Technology (ICT) fields in order to create jobs.

Museveni made the plea yesterday at Victoria University while launching the 2nd East African Mozilla Festival 2015 at Victoria University.

He said that government is working on another ICT backbone and government is planning to provide an alternative route to provide internet at a lower cost.

“Government is working on another ICT backbone both on land and sea that will provide an alternative route and lower the cost of internet and doing business we have one route through Kenya and now we are constructing another through Tanzania,” Museveni said.

He added; “Shs1bn has been set apart to develop ICT parks for youth to access free Internet.”

Museveni informed the audience that Technology has changed the face of things, and it is a sign of renaissance in Uganda.

He commended youth on ICT innovations including malaria app.

Museveni also applauded Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia for buying Victoria University when it was threatened with closure.
