The Go Forward presidential candidate John Patrick Amama Mbabazi and Forum for Democratic Change’s Rtd. Col. Kiźza Besigye stole the show as they attended Mass at Uganda martyrs shrine, Namugongo that was presided over by His Holiness Pope Francis.
Upon their arrival at Namugongo Martyrs Shrine, the two were accorded a thunderous applause that shocked even the security.
In addition, Mbabazi also smiled ear to ear together with his fans, when their Go Forward brand appeared in the official souvenir Magazine of Pope Francis’s visit.
As sons of the same soil, Mbabazi’s successor, Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda moved closer to him and had a one on one chat as Many people looked on in a disbelieve.
Generally, the level of Diplomacy that was exhibited among some politicians was shocking to many Ugandans as they prayed for peace to prevail.
Former Tanzania’s First lady to President Julius Mwalim Nyerere- Mama Nyerere and South Sudan President, Salvar Kir, blessed the occasion.
“Although President Museveni did not enable the opposition politicians to be part of him as Pope Francis touched Entebbe airport from Kenya on Friday evening, atleast we are happy the Namugongo mass united them together, ” one of the people who attended the mass was overheard saying.
In his speech, Pope preached about peace and unit as the core aspect all Christians should embrace.
After the mass, President Museveni had a hand shake with his rivals that is Dr. Kizza Besigye, former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi and other key opposition figures.
