By Andrew Cohen Amvesi
A group of MPs from West Nile and other parts of Northern Uganda were on Sunday joined by the State Minister of Internal Affairs to celebrate former Terego County MP, Kasiano Wadri Ezati’s failure to join the tenth Parliament.
Mario Obiga Kania joined a total of six MPs to mark the rare occasion in the history of the people of Terego West at Bileafe Sub County headquarters.
The Legislators are Moses Angundru, the Terego West MP, who sent Wadri digging, Ismail Ogama, the Lower Madi County MP, James Acidri of Maracha East County, York Alioni Odria of Yumbe South, Kole North MP, Bonny Okello and Northern Youth MP, Oscar Omonyi Otema.
Angudru slaughtered bulls, goats and a number of chicken for the Minister, MPs and other dignitaries to feast on as part of the effort he made to dust bin the former vocal Public Accounts Committee Chairperson (PAC).
During the function witnessed by hundreds of locals, the MPs baptized Wadri, who served for three terms in office sorts of names ranging from Goliath, for being defeated by Angundru, whom they referred to as the Bibilical David, Lion for roaring to Elephant while others called him Mt. Wati, a mountain in Terego which they said has been finally thrown down.
Wadri (FDC) was floored by the then little known Anguzu (NRM) in a hotly contested election on February 18, 2016.
His failure came as a shock to the Nation mainly FDC members since he was one of the strongest remaining party pillars in West Nile region.
Other MPs, who were similarly dumped like roasted potatoes are Christine Abia Bako (FDC), the former Arua Woman representative in Parliament, Alex Onzima, the then State Minister for Local government and FDC – NRM leaning Maracha MP, Sam Okuonzi (Vurra), Martin Drito (Madi Okollo), Ahmed Awongo (Koboko), Ruth Lematia (Maracha Woman), Noah Acile (Yumbe), Christine Acayo (Nebbi Woman), Hudah Oleru (Yumbe Woman) and Ann Awuru (Moyo Woman) among others.
During the function, every speaker showered Angudru with words of praises for defeating Wadri, saying the people of Terego suffered a lot in his hands for always opposing the government.
“Development is not asked from President Yoweri Museveni by roaring but through discipline,” Alioni remarked as he commanded Angundru for defeating Wadri.
He said the people of Terego have already started enjoying the fruits of electing NRM leaders through their own sons Angundru and Kania of Terego East now a Cabinet Minister.
Alioni also observed that the coming of Terego district is as a result of the two NRM Legislators, adding that had it been Wadri nothing would have happened.
Meanwhile, Ogama described Wadri’s defeat as the over throw of Mt. Wati since the MP had been a hard person to beat in Terego.
On his side, Kania said for the last 15 years, he has been laboring to tell the people of Terego that unless they change and start dancing to the tune of Museveni songs, they will not get anything developmental in their area.
He later called on Angundru to cooperate with him and all other MPs in West Nile in lobbying for roads, electricity and water for the people of Terego lest they will go back to support the opposition again.
Angundru welcomed the remarks and thanked his guests for turning up to celebrate the day with him as he pledge to serve the people of Terego West to their expectation.
