Mobile Money Dealer Commits Suicide after Mistaken Transaction

A mobile money dealer in Masaka has committed suicide after he reportedly sent UGX 900,000 shillings accidentally to a customer as opposed to the requested UGX 90, 000.

Hillary Ddumba (23) a resident of Kimaanya B in Kimaanya /Kyabakuza division was operating a Mobile Money outlet at Masaka Resource Center. He was found dead in his room after reportedly taking poison.

Relatives say, the deceased had just been released from prison after losing more than UGX 500,000 shillings from another transaction that went wrong.

According to the District Police Commander Henry Kavuma initial investigations indicate that Ddumba made attempts to recover the money from the recipient but his effort did not yield any results.

According to a medical report conducted by Dr. Herbert Kalemba of Masaka referral Hospital Ddumba was killed by poison.
