Kampala Central Member of Parliament has joined the already heated 10th parliament deputy speakership race.
“Dear comrades, this is to humbly announce that I am contesting for the position of Deputy Speaker of the 10th parliament. I will keep you posted on the roll out programme for our campaign,” Nsereko announced yesterday.
He joins a number of National Resistance Movement (NRM) legislators including Monica Amoding, Agaaba Abbas, Jovah Kamateka, Dennis Hamson Obua and Lwemiyaga county MP Theodore Ssekikubo who have showed interest in the position.
Budama South MP Jacob Oboth Oboth is also vying for the seat as an independent candidate.
Like Oboth Oboth, Nsereko is contesting as an independent.
Nsereko is among the NRM rebel MPs who were kicked out of the party after failure to follow party lines in 2013.
In 2011, he won Kampala Central parliamentary race on the NRM ticket but contested as independent candidate in the recent elections.
