Nsereko is one of the four National Resistance Movement (NRM) rebel MPs who were expelled in April 2013 on grounds of “Indiscipline.”

“You have unanimously encouraged me to contest as an Independent candidate for the post of Member of Parliament Kampala Central. I take your suggestions to be very important and as such I am delighted to state that I shall have to contest as an independent candidate,” Nsereko posted on Facebook today morning.

He added; “I thank you all for the Trust and confidence you have in my leadership and I shall be available to serve you all without considering your differences in political parties.”

He also highlighted that he is targeting more 95% victory. “95 percent victory should be our least achievement.”

In July, President Museveni met the four rebel MPs in attempt to woo them back into NRM by discussing the terms of the return.

So far, Lwemiyaga county Member of Parliament, Theodore Ssekikubo has publicly returned to NRM.

Mid July, during the celebration of World Population Day held in Sembabule district where president Museveni was the guest of honour, Ssekikubo grabbed the microphone from district Woman MP Hanifer Kawooya who was making her remarks and hastily pronounced his return to NRM with unshakable support for president Museveni.

“Mr. President, I rarely come to this district but today I have also come to join people of Sembabule to rally behind you. I will support you in every endeavor,” he said.
