Omusinga Was Arrested To Save Him from His Deadly Royal Guards — Police
Uganda Police force has revealed that they arrested the Omusinga Wa Rwenzururu kingdom, Charles Wisely Mumbere to save him from his own royal guards that had besieged the palace.
“The operation dubbed save the king; we realised the king was held hostage by his own people,” said Sowedi Mansuri, the East Rwenzori police spokesperson adding that; “He called on the security that his life was in danger so we had to swing in to save him.
“When we reached there we met a lot of resistance from the so called royal guards and they made some injuries on some of our soldiers and in self-defence we also put 46 out of action and we managed to arrest a number of them, 139 and they are alive and kicking.”
On Sunday, the UPDF and Police in a joint operation raided the palace of the Omusinga in the fierce fighting, over 50 royal guards were killed, 139 detained and 14 officers put out of action.
The Omusinga is currently detained at Nalufenya Prison in Jinja district .
