Police seal off Besigye’s home

Uganda Police Force yesterday evening sealed of the home of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Rt. Dr. Col. Kizza Besigye in Kasangati ahead of today’s anticipated eastern Uganda party mobilisation rallies.

Reports of the enclosure started emerging around 7:00pm last night on social media.

“The peoples president and FDC presidential flag bearer, Dr. Kizza Besigye’s home has been surrounded by very many security groups in civilian clothes and others in both army and police uniform,” Mwijukye Francis said.

Ingrid Turinawe, the party mobilisation secretary said that party officials including Besigye will open the FDC Kiira municipality office at 9am, open FDC office at Mukono 11am, hold rally in Jinja at 1pm and hold rally in Iganga at 4pm.

She said that “Col. Dr. Kizza Besigye will leave his home (tomorrow) by all means.”

Other officials expected to join are; party chairman Waswa Birigwa, General Secretary Hon. Nandala Mafabi, Leader of Opposition Rt Hon. Wafula Oguttu among other.

Police on Saturday blocked the FDC’s top echelon from travelling to Rukungiri for a mobilisation rally in a scuffle that resulted into the “undressing” of the Naigaga Fatuma at Kanyalyeru along Masaka-Mbarara road.
