The Centre was conceived by past district Governor Stephen Mwanje in 2011 as a response to the scourge of cancer in its many forms and the effect on ordinary Ugandans.

He mobilised a number of Rotarians who gave their professional expertise and used their personal networks to turn this ambitious project into the reality we are witnessing today.

When fully furnished and equipped, it will have the capacity to provide inpatient hospitalization, treatment and care for a total of 36 patients at a time.

The Center as it stands now cost a total of 1.5 billion shillings and is a result of almost three years of fundraising and partnership.

There have been direct contributions in cash and in kind in addition to the proceeds from 3 editions of the annual Rotary Cancer Run.

Uganda Rotary Cancer Programme Chairman, PDG Stephen Mwanje, said;

“We thank the people that hatched this dream many years ago, the people who had the courage to start it and the partners who had the belief to support it. The dream has become a reality. Cancer is one of the biggest health concerns in Uganda today and this Center will be a major milestone in the fight against it.”
