‘Sick’ Baguma Fails To Appear in Court

By Serestino Tusingwire

The former Kampala Central Police Station (CPS) boss ASP Aaron Baguma has failed to appear in court today for mention of his case, on reasons that he is ill.

Baguma was supposed to appear before Buganda Road Court today alongside  eight others including Muhammad Ssebufu, the Pine Car bond proprietor, over allegations that they conspired to murder Donah Betty Katusabe last year over a 9m debt which she owed to Ssebufu over the car she had bought from him.

His absence has however, prompted the presiding magistrate to adjourn court ordering prisons officials to produce Baguma on September 6, hoping he will be fine by then.

Baguma handed himself to the same court on Tuesday this week and was immediately charged with Murder, Aggravated Robbery, and Kidnap; and then remanded to Kigo Prison.

According to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mike Chibita, Baguma was allegedly seen at the scene where Katushabe was being beaten and tortured by Ssebuwufu’s men but he did nothing to rescue her, despite him being a person with authority.
