Tanga Odoi, Lumumba Fight over NRM Party Salaries

By Serestino Tusingwire

The National Resistance Movement party Electoral Commission chairman Tanga Odoi and party Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba are once again in the scuffle over discriminatory salary increment of party staff.

According to the letter dated November 23, Odoi directly attacked Lumumba of increasing salaries of some staff and others remain at their initial salaries.

“It has come to our attention that you decided to increase salaries of some staff at plot 10 at the expense of others, is this fair or good management practice?” Odoi questioned Lumumba’s leadership in the letter.

“Is it legal to use party resources discriminatively and divide staff?”

Odoi therefore requested Lumumba to increase the salaries of the other staff too as soon as possible.

“I request you to attend to the plight of other staff too, since they too contribute to the development of our party. Besides, the NRM party also Condon discrimination,” Odoi said.

Apparently, the two have not been in good terms over many internal issues since last year when they were organizing party primary elections.
