Tarehe Sita: Hundreds Get UPDF Free Medical Treatment

In just two days, at least 700 patients have been examined and treated for free by Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) medical doctors in Oyam and Lira districts.

The overwhelming number was registered at Anyeke Health Centre IV in Oyam district where by Tuesday this week, 248 patients were tested and put on treatment for different ailments.

20% of the patients tested Hepatitis B+ while another big number tested HIV+ by Tuesday when the exercise commenced.

UPDF carried out activities like, HIV testing, dental treatment, malarial and antenatal examination, among others.

This website understands that over 500 locals benefited from this UPDF campaign.

According to Ocan Denish (WOII) also a Clinical Officer working at Anyeke Health Centre IV, most Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs) tested HIV and Hepatitis B positives.

Meanwhile, Major Godfrey Ngobya, the head of medical team working in Oyam district told this website that the big numbers follows good mobilization and free services they were offering.

Meanwhile, at Barapwo Health Centre (III) in Lira Sub-county, the UPDF Engineering Brigade has commenced the construction of a modern placenta pit.

Lango Sub-region’s district of Apac was chosen to host this year’s Tarehe Sita fete and a number of civic activities are being carried out by the UPDF in the eight districts including constructing some schools.
