A top Gold dealer has been arrested over tax evasion.
Ham Musoke, a Ugandan citizen but residing in South Africa was arrested on May 24th for defrauding the government of revenue worth $12m (Roughly Shs37bn).
According to Police, Musoke was found in possession of 25kgs of Gold which he had imported from Kibali region in DRC but didn’t honour his tax obligations to the Ugandan authorities at the Congo-Uganda border point of Ishasha.
Kibali is a place internationally known for mining 60kgs of gold a day so no wonder Musoke was found in possession of the huge chunk of gold.
Meanwhile the authorities from the revenue department let him off the hook to go and look for 100,000USD and pay after which his gold will be handed over to him legally at a government refinery or security company for his safety.
