The minister of Foreign Affairs, Oryem Hillary Okello has today come out to condemn the incident where city businessman Mathew Kanyamunyu allegedly shot dead Kenneth Watmon Akena.
Through his Facebook page, Oryem showed how he felt devastated on hearing news that an innocent man had been shot dead over what he called a minor issue.
“I was very devastated and saddened when I learned of the death of Akena on Sunday morning. It is such a tragedy that we have to mourn the life of a brilliant young man who dedicated his youth to serving his country as a child protection Specialist.” Oryem posted on Facebook.
The minister also added his voice to those who are calling for responsible authorities to ensure that justice is shown to its level best.
“I stand with his family, friends and the good citizens of Uganda in condemning the events that led to his demise and will work with the relevant authorities to ensure the proprietors of this injustice are dealt with to the full extent of the law.” He said.
He however called for calm among Ugandans as some are already interpreting it within tribal lines.
“I call for calm from everyone as we allow the police to carryout investigations, and as we work towards finding justice for our son.” Oryem said before adding that; “I join his family and friends in prayers and solace.”
