Uganda 2-0 Botswana

Two second half goals from cranes Captain Geoffrey Massa and Brian Umony were enough for the mighty Cranes to edge the Zebras from Botswana at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium on Saturday.

The victory helped Cranes start their campaign to the 2017 Gabon AFCON with three points.

The Cranes who looked a dominant side in the opening minutes of first half had a chance to lead as early as the 9th minute but Gor Mahia left full back, Godfrey Walusimbi failed to convert a Geoffrey Massa cross

Portuguese based William Kizito Luwaga played a pivotal role in the two goals as he laid a flamboyant cross in the 55th minute to Cranes goal machine Geoffrey Massa who nodded the ball past goal keeper Kabelo Dambe.

In the 66th minute, Luwagga combined well with Dennis Iguma on the right, squaring another ground pass to Brian Umony who calmly netted to double the lead.

Cranes tactician Micho Sredojevic substituted Luwagga for CS Safien striker, Yunus Sentamu in the 70th minute while goal scorer Brian Umony paved way for Sc Villa midfielder Hassan Wasswa.
