UWA Boss To Be Sued Over Baboon Muchomo Comments

The Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) Executive Director Dr. Andrew Seguya is on verge of facing legal suit following the comments he made on Kafu meat in October this year.

The Masindi district council yesterday directed the chief administrative officer to engange the district lawyer to sue Dr Seguya accusing him of causing losses to Kafu business.

Addressing the press in October, Seguya openly made claims that most meat sold in Kafu is for wild animals mostly baboons.

“People must be careful with what they eat on the way. These people slaughter Baboons and calves which they smear with blood to make the meat appear dark like game meat,” he said.

However, since then, Seguya has been forced to swallow his words by Kafu vendors and their leaders claiming that since then, they have registered imaginable loses since people no longer trust their meat.

While appearing on a local FM radio station in Masindi recently, Seguya cleared his earlier statement saying that; “A lot has been said about your business but let me now make it clear, the meat you sell has no problem.”

Meanwhile, leaders and kafu dealer claim that Seguya’s appearance on radio did not change anything and therefore, he should be taken to court and be made to pay the damages.
