Barely a week after a Primary six pupil, Fadhila Shamika won the U-12 title at the Rift Valley Open Badminton Tournament that was held in Bungoma-Kenya, another batch of pupils from Kampala Parents School have continued rise the school’s flag high, after scooping 67 accolades from the Midland National Inter-Primary Schools’ Swimming Gala which took place on Saturday last week.
“At the end of the event, we emerged the best with double individual trophies for both girls and boys, between ages; 11-12. In brief, we have won 28 Gold medals, 20 silver Medals, and 19 Bronze Medals,” said KPS coach Ronald Mubiru.
He also identified some of their participants who scored highly in different categories’ as; Bah Baraka, Chiara Nansamba, Samuel Karuhura, Adrian Mutyaba, Ariana Komujjoni, Harry Babigumira, Ronald Ntambi, Sanyu Kagugube, Gabby Kanyago, Helga Rutaremwa, Samantha Kajjura, and Paul Wandera.
With their continued participation in various swimming competitions, Kampala Parents School says, they now aim at producing the best swimmers in the country that would possibly help to ease the work of the Uganda Swimming Federation (USF) through fetching more medals on both; local and international levels.
Under the sponsorship of Midland Group of Companies through Midland Foundation, hundreds of swimming enthusiasts that included; Parents, children among others, flocked to Rainbow International School (RISU) to witness the second edition historical swimming event.
Other schools that competed favorably are; Green Hill PS, Daffodils school, Rainbow Int’l School (the hosts) , Seeta Junior School, Golden Berry Schools-ZZ, Kampala Junior Academy, and Taibah School, and Rohan Academy.
Meanwhile, Max Kanyerezi, the head of swimming activities at RISU said the school is determined to put swimming to a higher level and being part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, they are optimistic that if given enough boost, this initiative will yield positive results like restoring the sports pride of Uganda as a whole as well as the participants.
