Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) yesterday revealed that it is planning massive demonstrations as part of the party’s free my vote campaign.

The demonstrations will be held on 5th May, 2016, day to the swearing in of president Museveni who is extending his 30yr stay in power.

President Museveni won the February 18th presidential election with over 60 percent while FDC’s Kizza Besigye came second with over 35 percent.

The party officials yesterday penned a letter to the Inspector General of Police Gen. Kale Kayihura informing him about their planned procession.

“This is to inform you that on 5th May, 2016, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party will hold a peaceful demonstration and procession from party headquarters to Nakivubo Blue Primary school at 10:00am, and such demonstrations and processions shall be held at all our district branches in Uganda,” the letter reads.

Addressing media, FDC press secretary Ssemujju Nganda said the demonstrations and procession will be aimed at showing the party’s dissatisfaction with the outcome of 2016 presidential election and demand for an independent audit.

It is not clear whether police will allow the planned demonstrations to go on.

What if the party is planning to start demonstrations to oust Museveni from power?

That is a major question that security chiefs will ask themselves before allowing the processions to go on.
