As the world prepares to celebrate Christmas, and in line with Uganda’s Jubilee year, the Bible Society of Uganda has donated 1,200 Jubilee Bibles to the Armed Forces of Uganda at a colorful ceremony held at Imperial Royale, Hotel.

Each of the three Armed Forces Police, Prisons and the Uganda People’s Defence Forces received 400 copies of the Bible.

“This token of 400 Bibles to each of the Forces is like a drop in the ocean,” the General Secretary of Uganda Bible Society, Mr. Simon Peter Mukhama said during the handover ceremony.

Mukhama said that the donation was done to specifically recognize the Forces for the special role they play in the nation and beyond the boundaries of Uganda.

“I look at the Prisons as a transformational institute, the Police as a sacrificial body and the Military as martyrs of our time,” Mukhama said.

The Jubilee Bible has special features like the history of the Bible societies worldwide, and history of Christianity.

For the Armed Forces it has the photographs of the Commander in Chief, Chief of Defense Forces, Inspector General of Police, and Commissioner General of Prisons.

Assistant Inspector General of Police, Andrew Sorowen who was the chief guest at the function received the Bibles on behalf of the Armed Forces.
