Thousands of mourners on Wednesday flocked Masiriba village Kiboga district, along Hoima road to see off one of Uganda’s most enterprising citizens, James Mulwana.

Mulwana passed away on Tuesday morning at Case Clinic in Kampala. He was admitted to the health facility after complaining of abdominal complications.

President Yoweri Museveni, the chief mourner who regarded the late Mulwana as one of his best friends, described the deceased as one who worked for the development of Buganda, Uganda and Africa as a whole.

The President also praised the late Mulwana for his non-discriminatory character, a quality re-echoed by the archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese, the Rev. Cyprian Lwanga.

Only the President, Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi’s representatives and Mulwana’s family were allowed to lay wreaths on the coffin of the deceased in accordance to one of his wishes before he passed on.

The former Thailand honorary consul to Uganda has also willed that his burial take place on the same day he passes on though this did not happen.

After laying his wreath on the deceased’s casket, President Museveni who was donning military fatigue gave him a befitting salute.

Religious leaders, politicians, members of the business community were all in attendance to bid farewell to a man that has left a long lasting mark on Uganda and East Africa’s economy.

He is survived by a widow Sarah Mulwana and three children. Geoffrey Mulwana, the deceased’s only son was named as the heir.

Geoffrey Mulwana praised his late father’s down to earth character and promised to ensure his father’s legacy lives on.
