Ndejje University women’s team preparations for the Africa Club Volleyball Championships in Madagascar are in top gear.
The Univeristy is however planning to shift their training base next week to the MTN Arena Indoor Stadium, Lugogo. Through the Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF), the University is negotiating with the National Council of Sports (NCS) to secure the facility.
The University Sports Tutor, Paul Mark Kayongo confirmed the new development to Uganda Radio Network and said they are also in talks with UVF to have a team of national volleyball coaches visit the Ndejje Elites training on regular basis to provide technical advice.
The Ndejje women team is being handled by Johnson Kawenyera and Tadeo Winyi.
Kayongo said that it is important for the team to train and compete in similar indoor conditions like the playing surface and general interior outlook in Madagascar. The national coaches will also be able to provide advice in strengthening a team capable of challenging Africa’s best sides in the continent.
The Ndejje Elites are the National League Champions and recently won the East Africa University crown with an unbeaten record in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The team which is representing the country next month are currently in a fundraising drive to raise Shs100 million to cater for air tickets, accommodation, feeding and other expenses.
