Following the 2-0 loss of Uganda Cranes to Liberia, Charles Bakkabulindi, the sports minister has asked the technical bench to have more local based players feature for the team. Bakkabulindi told Uganda Radio Network this morning that he is disappointed with the team’s loss in Monrovia on Sunday in a 2014 World Cup qualifier.
According to the Minister, it seems the team doesn’t prepare well enough for away games. He observed that the technical team should try to have as many local players compared to professionals. Bakkabulindi said that some of the professional players are not even that active in their respective teams and yet there is a lot of talent in the local league. He said the team only needs a few professionals and more of the locals players just like Tanzania.
Bakkabulindi said he suspects that the technical beach and the Federation of Uganda Football Association are not doing their work so well which explains why the team always suffers defeats away from home. He said the officials have a lot of work to do with the national team if Uganda is to start achieving big on the African continent. After their two draws to Senegal and Angola and the away loss to Liberia, Uganda Cranes is bottom placed with 2 points, while Senegal are top and Liberia second.
