The Rwanda Government says it will not be responsible for DRC fugitive warlord Bosco Ntaganda’s transfer to the International Criminal Court to face war crimes charges.

According to a Mail & Guardian Online report, Ntaganda walked into the US embassy in Rwanda on Monday asking to be transferred to The Hague. Asked whether Rwanda would support Ntaganda’s transfer to The Hague,

however Rwanda’s Foreign Minister Louise Mushikiwabo said her country has nothing to do with that decision: ‘General Ntaganda is on US territory’

Ntaganda faces war crimes charges racked up during years of rebellion. The report notes that neither Rwanda nor the US have an obligation to hand over Ntaganda to The Hague-based ICC since neither is a party to the Rome statute that established the court.
