Uganda national team Cricket captain Davis Arinaitwe Karashani has called upon his teammates to work together ahead of the World Cricket Division 3 tournament which takes place later this year in Bermuda.
Karashani says the competitive tournament needs the players at their best mentally and physically. The reward, if they perform well, will be qualification back to Division 2.
Uganda has been drawn to start the campaign against hosts Bermuda on April 28th when the event starts at the national Stadium in St. Davids.
Justine Ligyalingi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) told our Reporter on Wednesday evening that the draws pitted Uganda to face Nepal on April 29 after their opening game.
The event which will attract Uganda, Italy, Bermuda, Oman, USA and Nepal will have the teams compete for the two available slots for qualification to Division 2. The bottom 2 teams after the event will be relegated to Division 4, while 3 and 4 remain in Division 3. Uganda was relegated to Division 3 after losing by one run to Papua New Guinea in the World Cricket League Division 2 held in the United Arab Emirates in 2011.
Ligyalingi said they have named a 14 man team who are currently undergoing rigorous training under the watchful eyes of Coaches Martin Suji and Stephen Tikolo.
The team named includes; Davis Arinaitwe Karashani (Captain), Roger Mukasa, Jonathan Sebanja, Arthur Kyobe, Frank Nsubuga (Vice Captain), Benjamin Musoke, Lawrence Ssematimba, Deusdedit Muhumuza, Michael Ndiko, Charles Waiswa, Richard Okia, Brian Masaba, Henry Ssenyondo, Arthur Ziraba.
