Former Vice President Gilbert Balibaseka Bukenya has cautioned President Museveni against arresting General David Sejjusa a.k.a Tinyefuza.
Bukenya told Red Pepper in an exclusive interview at parliament on Tuesday that arresting Tinyefuza is disastrous; “Mere arresting is shutting his mouth” Bukenya said.
“When you shut someone’s mouth he cannot talk and the truth wont be known” He said. Tinyefuza is being probed by the army for spreading harmful propaganda in a dossier in which he alleged that high ranking military and government officials are being targeted for opposing first son Brig. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s perceived succession project. However, the General is still out of the country.
Speaking for the first time since about the General’s predicament, Bukenya said the allegations raised by Sejjusa should be thoroughly investigated.
“The allegations which Sejjusa talked about involving extra judicial killings are very serious” Bukenya said. “President Museveni went to the bush to fight dictatorship and extra judicial killings”
“I dont call this matter (Tinyefuza allegations) a small issue especially if it comes from a high ranking officer” he added.
The former VP who recently declared his intentions to stand against Museveni in 2016 vowed to pursue his dream despite the bickering in the army.
“I am not bothered about what’s going on” he said.
