President Yoweri Museveni has overhauled the entire leadership of UPDF in a major reshuffle. According to the changes announced yesterday at 11pm, Museveni promoted Lt Gen. Katumba Wamala to a full general and appointed him the new Chief of Defence Forces, replacing Gen. Aronda Nyakairima Nyakairima is the new internal affairs ministers where he finds another General, Kale Kayihura, the police chief.

Other changes include Charles Angina who was promoted to the rank of Lt. Gen. and appointed Deputy CDF.Angina replaces Lt. Gen Ivan Koreta who now becomes an ambassador, while Maj. Gen Fred Mugisha assumes the new role of chief of National counter-terrorism agency.

Museveni also promoted his former aide Wilson Mbadi to the rank of Maj. Gen and appointed him the new Joint Chief of Staff, as Maj. Gen. Charles Muhoozi takes over as the new land forces commander.

Brig. Leopold Kyanda is the new chief of staff land forces while Col. Kanyesigye is the new 4th division commander. while brig. Turyagyenda was promoted to Maj. Gen and confirmed as the Air Force chief, according to a radio message sent to out all army units

  1. Afande Katumba congs! A very welcome en fantastic move ever in UPDF. Bravo Wamala one again. Guys it seems the fellow is planning to handover the power to young generation. Oba who is targeting? Atte gwe why are old dogs busting into anger seems the deal has fallen off old generation

  2. Thats seems to be a kind of Demotion and parhaps stressing for Aronda, from 1st Ranking position to the 30th one,But that’s Normal.
