Uganda’s fashionista Sylvia Owori has declared her intention to contest football body Federation of Uganda Football Association’s (FUFA) top job.
Current president Lawrence Mulindwa declared Monday that he will not be seeking re-election come August when elections are due.
The fashionista revealed this on Wednesday morning via her twitter account @SylviaOwori.
“Great day today. I have officially decided to stand for presidency of FUFA. Ugandan football here I come.” she tweeted.
Owori joins a growing list of potential candidates that includes; vision group CEO Robert kabushenga, Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko, KCCA Councillor Allan Sewanyana, Moses Magogo and USL Director Fred Muwema.
Meanwhile, FUFA’s executive committee reportedly ‘anointed’ Magogo as their preferred candidate for the job.
If she succeeds in her endeavour (a very unlikely prospect), it waits to be seen how the lady whose contribution to Uganda’s fashion industry is second to none will change the fortunes of Ugandan football and its fans hungry for glory.
