Joseph Benson Ochaya, the Uganda Cranes left-back has confirmed his upcoming trials with the relegated Germany Bundesliga side Greuther Furth FC. Ochaya, who plays for Asante Kotoko in Ghana, told redpepper on Monday evening after the Cranes training that he will head to Germany after the Cranes game with Angola on Saturday. He explained that he would have been in Germany already, but he had to complete the Angola game before flying back to Ghana and connect to Germany for trial.
Despite the fact that Ochaya didn’t want to disclose who secured him the opportunity to go for trials in Germany, he explained that his good show in the Ghana League had drawn the attention of several people. Asante Kotoko is currently top of the table in Ghana as they go into the last League games on June 23 which will determine the champion. Ochaya says that he has worked so hard in Ghana adding that he will give his best when he travels to Germany for trials. He explained that some of the chances come once adding that, as a footballer he is ready to take it because it has always been his dream to play in Europe.
Ochaya joined Asante Kotoko from KCCA FC as a replacement for Baba Rahman who left the Club for another German side Hoffenheim. The talented player was not used as a substitute in the Cranes 1-0 win over Liberia last Saturday in a 2014 World Cup qualifier. Last month the club however denied reports that the player was heading to Germany for trials. Ben Nti, the administrative manager told URN then that they were not aware of any interest much less a trial from any club for Ochaya.
