Uganda Cranes first choice goalkeeper Dennis Onyango has been ruled out of the Uganda Cranes crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Angola due to injury.
The Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) goalkeeper failed to shake off a knee injury which will keep him out in the terraces as the Cranes battle Angola tomorrow at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.
Team manager Chrispus Muyinda confirmed his exclusion explaining that Onyango cannot make it for that game because his knee is still hurting. The team therefore decided not to risk worsening his injury.
Onyango had earlier in the week said the knee injury was the same one that bothered him during the PSL season in South Africa. The Mamelodi Sundowns short stopper however said he is confident Robert Odonkara and Abey Dhaira are in great form.
Striker Emmanuel Okwi who has also been an injury worry for Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic was part of the training session this afternoon and is expected to make the starting team tomorrow. Uganda will be all out to try and collect three points to be in line to qualify for the next round of the World Cup qualifiers.
