Soroti regional referral hospital is choking with uncollected heaps of garbage. Our reporter who visited Soroti regional referral hospital on Friday last week, found two skips overflowing with garbage. The air around the private wing and medical staff quarters, which are a few meters away from the skips, stinks.

The hospital administration blames Soroti Municipality for failing to collect the garbage for the last three weeks. Christine Akwi, an attendant at the maternity ward says that they are finding it hard to eat because of the heavy stench from the garbage. She says the wards stink. Okwi appeals to the concerned authorities to remove the garbage to save patients and their attendants from the foul smell.

Thomas Obong, the principal administrator Soroti regional referral hospital says the responsibility of removing the garbage lies with Northern Division authorities. He however, claims that the division takes long to remove the garbage citing lack of fuel.
Moses Amolo, the Assistant Town Clerk Northern Division admits that it is their responsibility to remove the garbage. Amolo promised to send a truck to remove the garbage.
