Uganda’s top tennis player Duncan Mugabe has changed his mind and returned to the US.
Fresh from winning the 2013 Kenya Open title, the player left last week. Mugabe had early this year abandoned his partial tennis scholarship in the US.
The player’s father James Kasumba who works with the National Council of Sports (NCS) disclosed to Uganda Radio Network that the player had finally heeded advice and headed back to complete his training.
Mugabe, who won a bronze medal at the 2011 All Africa Games in Mozambique, had been in the US for the last two years under going training at one of the training centres in San Francisco.
Kasumba explained that his son will have the chance of working at a tennis club and also further his education.
Bob Ndibwami is another former national and David Cup team player who also settled in the US having gone there over eight years ago. In Mugabe’s absence youthful David Oringa is now Uganda’s top tennis player.
