Kenya Names 14 For Zone 5 FIVB Kampala Meet

Kenya national men’s volleyball team head coach Gideon Chenje has named his final team of 14 ahead of the Zone 5 FIVB Volleyball world Club championships qualifiers that will be held in Kampala.

The final team of 14 players will depart from Nairobi to Kampala by road on the 23rd of July in time for the tournament that will be held from 23 to 28 July 2013.

The Kenya men’s team is under Coach Gideon Chenje of Kenya Prisons while David Lung’aho is in charge of the women’s team that will also be playing the same qualifiers in Nairobi.

Uganda head coach Anthony Ndawula’s side on Thursday evening thrashed a Select side 4-0 (25-23, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20) in a build-up as they prepare for next week’s tourney.

Other participating teams will be Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi while regional giants Sudan and Burundi withdrew.

This competition will see the top three (3) teams qualify to compete in the Zone 5 and eventually qualify for the FIVB World Cup in Poland – 2014

The event shall be hosted at the MTN Arena – Lugogo 23rd – 27th July 2013.
