Mangat Clinches Race to Race Sprint

Reigning National Rally champion Jas Mangat bounced back from his dismayal performance at the recent KCB Kenya Safari rally where he finished 16th by winning the Race to Race Lubiri Spirint on Sunday. Toyota Corolla RunX 7:23:36

Joseph Kamya wins the Clubman Rally Category

Shafik Ssemuju maintains his lead on the FMU Sprint rally Championship for 2013

The crew of Umar Daud/Hamza Kakande rolled but are ok.

Several guest drivers in attendance but do not feature on the overall result.

The driver needed only 6:24:89 to win the 8.8km race that had big guns Ronald Ssebuguzi, Ponsiano Lwakataka and Suzan Muwonge all boycott.

Mangat navigated by Gihan De Silva powered his recently retired Subaru Impreza N12b machine to victory with observers now wondering whether he will use the same machine or the more efficient Mitsubishi Exolution10 in the forthcoming V-Powers Shell Pearl of Africa Uganda rally.

“This has been a good test for me before Pearl and at least I have used the same circuit track that will be used in pearl, but I can’t tell which machine I will use in August because they all in good shape,” Mangat told RED Pepper.com on Sunday.

He had last used the Subaru during the MPU Masaka rally in April 2013 before unleashing the powerful Evo10 he used in Kenya.

Seasoned driver Wycliff Bukenya navigated by Frank Serugo were second in their Mitsubishi Lancer Evo9 posting a 6:40:00 time with Shafiq Semujju navigated by Hussien Mukuye in their Subaru Impreza N11 completed the podium dash in a time of 6:49:00 and maintain his lead on the FMU Sprint rally Championship for 2013.

On-form driver Fred Wampamba finished fourth while Orange Uganda sponsored Rwandese national Christakis Fitidis finished 5th in his new Mitsubishi Lancer Evo6 in a race that had several guest drivers in attendance with the crew of Umar Daud/Hamza Kakande rolling but unhurt.

Ismail Otega won 2wd class while Joseph Kamya was also victor in the Clubman Rally Category.
