Soroti Health Centre IV Suspends Surgical Operations

Princess Diana Memorial Health Center IV in Soroti municipality has suspended all surgical operations due to lack of a medical doctor.

Dan Esogu, the only medical doctor at Princess Diana Memorial Health Center IV resigned three months ago and took a new assignment with Baylor Uganda.

Dr. John Bosco Ojur, the acting medical officer Soroti municipal council says the absence of a doctor at Princess Diana health center has affected service delivery to residents. He says the health center suspended surgical operations and now refers all cases to Soroti regional Referral hospital.

Alfred Aruo, the Mayor Soroti Municipality says Princess Diana Health Centre IV is now run by Clinical officers. He says their hands are tied because of the ban on the recruitment of medical workers by the health ministry.

Princess Diana with a bed capacity of 40 serves a population of about 6,000 patients each month. It serves patients from Arapai, Gweri, Kamuda, Katine sub counties and Northern Division.
