Alex Tweyambe, 35, was found in action defiling 11 year old girl on Wednesday August 21.
The suspect is now being held at Kibaale police station as the investigations into the matter are ongoing.
The heart breaking incident happened in a bush, a few meters off the house of the grandmother’s defiled girl in Kyakuterekera village, Kisiita Sub County, Kibaale district.
By the time of this nasty act, the grandmother of the girl had gone to the garden. People came to the girl’s rescue after she was heard making a lot of noise as she screamed for help.
Tweyambe was first detained at Mwitanzige police post before being transferred to Kibaale district police headquarters.
Ben Mugisha, the Kibaale district Criminal Investigation Department chief, in a phone interview noted with the concern a rise in cases of defilement in the area.
Mid last month, Police in Kagadi arrested a 38 year old man for defiling his own daughter.
The suspect identified as Omuhereza Mugisa, a resident of kyamurodo village, in Nyamiti ward Muhorro town council and a porter at Kagadi hospital allegedly defiled his own 14 year old daughter.
Paul Mulindwa, the chief Executive Director Kibaale Civil society organization Network (KCSON), said that they were actually more defilement cases going unreported than reported. This is because many of the parents of the victims often opt to settle matters out of court.
