Kobs seek to retain Uganda Cup |RUGBY

TODAY – Kyadondo RFC

Heathens vs. Kobs (5pm)

RESULT – CAR Africa Cup 1B

Uganda 11-6 Morocco

Reigning champions DMark Kobs confront league champions MTN Heathens Saturday evening with one mission at hand; retaining the Nile Special Uganda Cup at Kyadondo.

Kobs who have won the trophy three consecutive times beat home side Heathens 14-13 in 2012 thanks to a late penalty from fullback Joseph Aredo.

The return to form of eighth man Steven Ogwete, at least in terms of scoring tries, should help Kobs edge favourites Heathens who have brothers Romano Ogwal and Denis Mulo back for this year’s final. The duo missed that game following the death of their father in the week leading up to the final

“We obviously want to retain the Cup and nothing less,” Romano Ogwal told RED Pepper Online on phone Saturday noon.

But Heathens coach coach Brian Tabaruka has a different opinion about today’s final. “We failed to win it for them last year so we can give them the result this year, only that they must contribute first,” Tabaruka said.

Heathens battle Kobs (blue) during the Kitaka memorial tournament semi final at Legends Club in September. They face off again in the Uganda Cup final.
