The appointments committee of Parliament chaired by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga yesterday August 13 approved Mike Chibita as the new Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
Chibita was appointed by President Museveni in July this year and was waiting vetting and approval by Parliament.
According to a reliable source on the appointment’s committee that preferred anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, reveled to us that all committee members approved Chibita as DPP based on his experience.
Chibita has been serving as a Residential Judge in Fort Portal since 2011.
He was also a residential judge in Masaka from 2010 to 2011.
He also served as Deputy Head of the land Division this year.
Chibita worked as a Private Secretary Legal Affairs to President Museveni from 1996 to 2003, served as a principle State Attorney from 2003 to 2005, served as Executive Assistant Commissioner and Commissioner General in Uganda Revenue Authority from 2005 to 2010.
Chibita served as a lecturer in International Relations and African History at the North Western College in the USA in 1993, he served as a State Attorney to Constituent Assembly for Election Petition Purposes in 1994.
