Kiira Young vs Soana
Proline vs Simba
Newly promoted side Soana FC will go top of the FUFA Super League log today if they beat Kiira Young in one of the scheduled matches.
Coach Richard Makumbi said yesterday that although they won the first game 1-0 against CRO FC on the opening day of the league, they are determined to make it two wins.
“We need to make sure we accumulate quick points as the league has just started,” said Makumbi, who added that facing Kiira Young FC will not be a very easy task since they have been in the league.
Makumbi said his team goes into the match at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, well aware of what to expect.
Francis Oloki, who netted the winner against CRO FC last week, will be more than eager to get more goals for Soana FC. However, after starting with a draw against Police FC on August 20th, Kiira Young will be hungry to register their first win.
Kiira’s defender Richard Kasagga, who was part of the Cranes team that qualified for the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) together with strikers Henry Oguti and Jordan Tamale, is expected to lead the team in search of maximum points.
The second game on the card will see Proline FC and army side Simba FC face-off as the two sides test their first game in league action. Although Simba’s coach Fred Kajoba yesterday told this paper that they have had some internal disorganisation while registering players, they will be all out to try and win the game.
Shafik Bisaso, the Proline FC coach, said since they struggled in the last matches to avoid a drop in the lower division last season, they are going all out to win matches and accumulate early points.
“Although we do not underrate Simba FC, we need to collect all the three points,” added Bisaso.
Although the team was depleted, with two players leaving for trials in the second Division club in Portugal and the transfer of two other players – Abubakar Tabula and Gift Ali to other teams – the new faces like Anthony Asimwe, Ibra Ssendi and Dan Asimwe are expected to star in the game.
