Teso Youth Embrace Army Recruitment

At least 172 youths have succesfully been registered for recruitment into the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces from the eight districts in Teso region.

The districts are Soroti, Serere, Kaberamaido, Amuria, Katakwi, Ngora, Kumi and Bukedea. Lt. Jimmy Denis Omara, the UPDF third division spokes person, told RED Pepper Online that 172 recruits had successfully been recruited into UPDF in Teso.

He noted that with 38 recruits, Soroti district recorded the highest number of recruits while Serere recorded the least number of 14. Lt, Omara says Majority of the UPDF applicants from Teso were disqualified because they were suffering from different kinds of skin diseases while others were disqualified after testing positive to HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B, pregnancy for ladies and high blood pressure.

Two applicants were arrested after presenting forged academic documents, he adds. he adds that the overwhelming turn up in Teso shows that the civilian population has developed trust in the army . He adds that the exercise targets 553 UPDF recruits in the 3rd Div.

  1. We need more foreign interventions and probably the Arrow boys are some of the loyal combatants to keep the project alive. Hard work pays! who knows if you persevere. Why on earth are we recruiting when there is no money to pay the teachers?
