Eddie Ssendi is a mainstay on our showbiz scene. The loaded fella is one of the biggest event organizers on the Ugandan market so definitely he would be well accustomed with stage ethics but at Friday night’s Club Music Video Awards, the flamboyant organizer tried to receive (sic) an award that belonged to Moses Matovu of Afrigo Band.
This drama unfolded at the fully packed UMA main hall, the venue that hosted the first ever Music Video Awards.
When Club Beer Brand Manager Mr. Sam Hooper and Marketing Manager NBL Mr. Daniel Ogong announced the Life-Time Achievement Award winner Moses Matovu of Afrigo band, there was no one to receive the award, Eddie Ssendi quickly dashed to the stage and explicated on how Moses Matovu and Joanita Kawalya had left the place for a jig at Club Obligatto.
“Moses Matovu and Joanita Kawalya have left the venue for a jig at their home Club Obligatto so I will receive the award on their behalf,” said Ssendi.
Hardly had he finished speaking than Joanita Kawalya resurfaced on stage. The usually talkative Ssendi was speechless for seconds. He looked like a fish out of water.
He then quickly found solace from these words; “Oh sorry she is here”
The crowds laughed at Ssendi until he disappeared from the stage.
