RED Pepper Online has confirmed an Ethiopian Airlines plane was chartered to fly 153 fans sponsored by President Museveni to travel to Morocco for Uganda’s World Cup match against Senegal.

Departure at Entebbe International Airport, 40Km from the capital Kampala will be 5.10am on Saturday morning.

The contigent will make a stopover in the Nigerian capital Abuja before the fans connect to the Moroccan city of Marrakech.

Ethiopian Airlines area manager Abebe Angessa confirmed to reporters  yesterday that they had been booked to transport the fans. The airline has availed a Boeing 737-800 Next Generation, commonly abbreviated as Boeing 737NG for the fans.

The fans will touch down in Marrakech at 1.15pm Moroccan time and departure after the Saturday evening match will be at 2am. The fans return to Entebbe at mid-day on Sunday.

President Yoweri Museveni last month provided cash for the chartered flight to enable fans come to Marrakech and cheer the team.

Jessica Alupo, the Minister of Education and Sports, is also expected to be part of the team on the chartered flight.

  1. Is this tax payers money or his own money? How can the President waste money to transport fans??? when Ugandans are dying in mulago hospital with no drugs, in the north children are dying of famine,in Budada victims of mad slide have been forgotten,this is unacceptable
    Saving life should be first priority
