Cranes defender Richard Kasagga netted one of the goals to guide Kiira Young FC to a 2-0 victory over struggling Entebbe FC in a FUFA Super League match played at Wankulukuku Stadium.
The fast improving defender, who was being watched by Cranes tactician Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, did not disappoint as he finished off a good cross by Emma Adikiyo Obatre in the 38th minute.
Winless Entebbe tried to fight back through veteran Yusuf Kinene and holding midfielder Siraj Ssentamu, but found the Kiira Young defenders steady.
On resumption the visiting Kiira Young returned with more urgency and made it 2-0 with Obatre getting his name on the score sheet in the 54th minute.
Kiira Young’s head of the technical committee and general secretary, Ivan Mugimba who was on the bench as stand-in coach, said it was team work and discipline which helped them win the game.
The club has been without a coach since former Cranes skipper George Ssemogerere quit last week.
The Entebbe coach, James Odoch, whose team dropped to fourth place from the bottom said his players failed to listen to instructions.
“We need to get more serious if we are to get better results,” added the former Cranes attacking midfielder.
