Ugandan Athlete Stephen Kiprotich was yesterday Monday crowned the most outstanding sports personality for the month of August following a unanimous vote by the Sports scribes assembly seating at centre court Lugogo.
Kiprotich made history registering double world title Gold medals wins first with the London Olympics and last month winning gold again at the World Atheletics championships in the 42 km Marathon in Moscow, Russia.
The sports icon rains as Nile Special USPA Award winner for the month of August 2013 and World Champion record holder, he will be crowned next week Thursday at a splash Nile Special dinner ceremony.”Iam very honored to recieve this USPA award again, like l always say l would like to frequent USPA best atheletes platform to encourage other atheletes to equally work hard and put Ugandan sports on the world map,” Kiprotich told RED Pepper Online on phone.
“I told you journalists l will return here with another title after winning the Olympics l always fulfill my pledge, Iam back again this time seeking for your support in pushing for the high altitude training project completion to aid develop our athletes locally from grass root level,” he added.Others on commendation list include MTN Heathens Rugby Club for winning the prestigious Uganda Cup 2013, Kick boxer Moses Golola for flooring Uganda People’s Democratic Forces Officer Titus Tugume the Hard Rock, Rally Driver Jas Mangat bagging the Pearl of Africa Rally title, Willy Deus Kitata for winning the 7th Sadolin Entebbe Gold Open, Jonah Turigye for scooping the National Pool Open, Lillian Zawedde for coming 11th in the World Wood Ball championships and Nkumba University for winning the Women’s University Volleyball team for winning the NSSF KACV Open championship.
